BURLINGTON VERMONT 05401
Fairhaus    Asheville North Carolina -  Built for the Alley family BY the Alley family. The front porch
overlooks a neighborhood park with little league baseball diamond and tennis courts. Black stucco  and
black granite are used to help make the house invisible from the street.
The sides and rear of this house warmly open up to bright private gardens. Set on a half acre city
lot, the kitchen offers a rear deck and side yard patio, allowing the perfect dining for morning or
evening outside feasts. Cedar shingles reflect the colors of the garden. The flat kitchen roof was
built with foundations for a second story which will be added at convenience.
The kitchen ceiling is designed with interlocking cantilevers and provides upper windows
on three walls. The sink window is 5FT tall by 8FT wide and overlooks the mature grape
arbor and fire pit enclave in the rear yard. Center island is movable to provide countless
kitchen arrangements with the attached dining room
Cherry woodwork is hand crafted by Chris Alley. Upper left photo shows passive heat exchange
vents between every room, with copper flashing. Clever detailing on the upper right provides a
wonderful display shelf with its own double window. Lower right living room is coloured with
hand applied faux painted walls and built in window seat and shelves next to the wood stove.
